Quick-Step ReadyFlor 3 Strip Engineered Timber Flooring 14/3mm PRODUCT RANGE COMPARISON
01 / THE RESEARCH

What makes these ranges different?

Quick-Step engineered timber uses real timber veneer above a manufactured core. Our current catalogue includes nine ranges with different timber species, board formats and installation methods. Thickness and timber wear layer are useful starting points, but they are not direct measures of water performance or acoustics. The important water distinction in Quick-Step Australia's 09/2024 warranty: Amato, Faro and Cascada have a limited 15-year wet warranty (72-hour spill clean-up condition); the other six ranges do not.

03 / OUR RESEARCH CONCLUSION

What we recommend comparing.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

For water-conscious living areas, start by comparing Amato, Faro and Cascada, while recognising that their wet warranty has installation and cleaning conditions. For large, wide European oak planks, consider Massimo (2200 × 260mm; 13.5mm total thickness). For a distinctive geometric floor, compare Intenso Chevron and ReadyFlor Herringbone; their installation systems differ. ReadyFlor 1/2/3 Strip suits buyers prioritising natural hardwood species and traditional plank patterns. The ideal choice depends on species, colour, floor preparation and installation.

BEST FOR

Amato/Faro/Cascada — buyers wanting timber with a manufacturer-specified wet warranty; Massimo — an extra-wide European oak plank appearance; Intenso — pre-assembled chevron design; ReadyFlor Herringbone — traditional glued timber herringbone; ReadyFlor 1/2/3 Strip — Australian hardwood species and classic timber presentations.

Series-by-series research notes
ReadyFlor 3 Strip — 14/3mm; 2200 × 190mm, traditional three-strip hardwood look. ReadyFlor 2 Strip — 14/2.5mm; 2200 × 186mm, two-strip hardwood. ReadyFlor 1 Strip — 14/2.5mm; species-dependent sizes 2430 × 134mm / 2200 × 145mm / 1820 × 145mm. Intenso Chevron — 13/2.5mm; 600 × 310mm preassembled chevron panels. Faro — 13/2.5mm; 2200 × 220mm oak plank; 15-year wet warranty. Massimo — 13.5/2.5mm; current catalogue 2200 × 260mm; broad European oak plank. Manufacturer offers variant-dependent lengths. Cascada — 13/2.5mm; species-dependent sizes and 15-year wet warranty. ReadyFlor Herringbone — currently catalogued 14mm; 610 × 122mm; glue-down tongue and groove. Some distributor references differ on thickness and should be reconfirmed before a final order. Amato — 13/2.5mm; multiple narrow plank formats; 15-year wet warranty.

05 / SUITABILITY & INSTALLATION

The details that matter.

Warranty, moisture and everyday use

Surface species and grading: real timber shows natural knots, grain, colour differences and seasonal movement. Thicknesses in our catalogue range from 13mm to 14mm, except Massimo's 13.5mm; ReadyFlor face layers vary by range. Water: only Amato, Faro and Cascada have a 15-year wet warranty; clean spills within 72 hours, and obtain a site-specific assessment for any bathroom or laundry installation, including required Hydrokit sealing and applicable waterproofing rules. Installation: ReadyFlor Herringbone is a tongue-and-groove glue-down product; Intenso uses a different chevron panel system; inspect each range's manufacturer instructions. Sound: there is no meaningful acoustic ranking by thickness without a tested floor/underlay assembly. Warranty: Australian 09/2024 terms provide 33-year residential wear warranty subject to defined wear-through, plus limited structural and click-joint terms.

Before installation

We assess timber species, use case, substrate moisture and flatness, expansion clearances and the manufacturer-approved fitting method. Amato, Faro and Cascada's wet warranty requires spills to be wiped within 72 hours and appropriate Quick-Step Hydrokit perimeter sealing for permitted wet areas; compliant wet-area waterproofing remains separate. ReadyFlor Herringbone is direct-stick and NOT compatible with underfloor heating or cooling according to its current manufacturer product specification and dedicated installation instructions. Its Blackbutt/Spotted Gum variants also are not suited to wet rooms. Intenso's chevron panel system has its own installation rules. Distinguish natural timber seasonal movement from warranty-covered manufacturing defects.
